GTA III was the game that changed everything. It revolutionized gaming like few games ever could. Introducing the open world concept to a mass audience like some had tried before, and all had failed. It also ushered in a new perception for gaming. Before GTA III gaming was overwhelmingly considered a childish activity, whereas GTA III was a mature rated game with such a level of popularity amongst casual audiences that gaming from that point forward became more adult. It caused an entire continental shift in what developers made and what people expected out of games. But with that said, just because GTA III was revolutionary, that doesn't mean that it's perfect.
