It's only one day until the long awaited Rapha Prestige Yorkshire with Chain Gang Cyclists. I am excited to see if the Yorkshire Dales are as beautiful as the Lake District. Saturday the 14th of August is the rolling day when teams of 4 will work to complete one of two routes. Usually the Prestige asks you to build to build your own route around checkpoints. However, the Yorkshire Dales has a distinct lack of roads as you cross it's fells and dales, and there will be a choice of two options to explore - the Prestige and the Extra Hard - both starting and finishing at The Ilkley Brewery.
Route 1
A 161km route out into the Dales, taking on four key climbs in quick succession and racking up 2,400m of climbing. Expect sharp gradients, stunning views and a well-earned sense of achievement. Bring your low gears; there are at least two sections of 20%+ to contend with.
Route 2 Extra Hard
Feel like you want something a little more testing? The Extra Hard route might only be an extra 2km in length, but it packs in 2,750m of elevation along the way. One road over but a whole world away, this route takes on the formidable Park Rash and its 30% hairpin. Be warned: once you choose this way, there's no going back.
