Michel Barnier has said the UK is making a post-Brexit trade deal "unlikely" as another round of talks ends without sign of progress.
Giving his standard press conference the EU's chief negotiator said "the time for answers is quickly running out", noting the lack of progress on the level-playing field was "all the more worrying" because the EU has "no visibility" about what the UK is planning in terms of future domestic subsidy control system.
Mr Barnier said there is "objectively" a risk of the UK and EU not reaching an agreement, noting the two sides have until "October at the latest" to strike a deal or risk the imposition of quotas and tariffs.
