Is Investment Casting the Answer
to Produce Your New Metal Component?
Investment casting provides the most design freedom of any process. Unlike die casting or other casting, this lost wax process allows you to create intricate designs with multiple voids or cavities, and complex geometries.
If it will require a multistage finishing process... If it absolutely must hold to extremely tight tolerances throughout the production process…Investment casting might very well be your best solution from a lowest-total-cost perspective.
The Investment Casting Process an Ancient Art, a Perfect Science
The process begins with a precision-engineered wax replica of the desired end product—the key to achieving such a detailed casting.
This wax “pattern” is dipped in various liquid ceramic slurries and coated to form a strong ceramic mold. The wax is then melted out and the ceramic mold is fired to achieve extreme hardness. This mold is then used to cast molten metal into what will become a net- or near-net finished part. In a final, post-casting stage, Aero Metals is fully equipped to handle any finishing, if necessary.
With investment casting—or, what is often called lost wax casting—you can literally pour the most intricate and sophisticated metal parts into a net- or near-net shape, with very little to no need for machining, threading, assembly or other finishing stages.
