President Ram Nath Kovind on January 24 unveiled a portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the Rashtrapati Bhavan to mark the beginning of celebrations to commemorate the freedom fighter's 125th birth anniversary. Many on social media have, however, claimed that there has been a mix-up. They have pointed that the portrait unveiled by President Ram Nath Kovind is not of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, but of actor Prosenjit Chatterjee. Actor Prosenjit Chatterjee who played Subhas Chandra Bose in a 2019 Bengali film Gumnaami, directed by Srijit Mukherjee, which deals with the freedom fighter’s death mystery.
TMC Mahia Moitra tweeted, "God Save India (because this government certainly can’t)."
On the other hand, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee refused to address the event to mark 125th birth anniversary of Netaji.
