French expatriate Amandine Honvault was walking with her boyfriend to a restaurant when they noticed something moving in the grass in Central Singapore on April 2. The pair discovered it was a little winged mammal twitching on the ground, which appeared to have been bullied by the sparrows around. She called the wildlife officers for help who told them to take the bat home. National parks officer later arrived to collect Mabo and although the couple bonded with the creature, Amandine said they understood that they needed to let it go.
