Guru Nanak Dev Ji (1469–1539) was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. He was born on April 15, 1469, in Talwandi (now Nankana Sahib, Pakistan). Guru Nanak is revered for his teachings on universal brotherhood, equality, and devotion to one God.
He emphasized that all human beings, regardless of caste, creed, or gender, are equal in the eyes of God. His teachings are captured in the sacred text of the Sikhs, the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Nanak traveled extensively across India and beyond, spreading his message of peace, love, and compassion.
