On June 3rd, the first annual UK Overseas Territories Day was celebrated. The day aims to foster a stronger connection between the UK and its Overseas Territories.
The inaugural event began with a special Evensong service at Westminster Abbey, featuring prayers for the Overseas Territories. Representatives from the territories attended, and Dr. Tasha Ebanks-Garcia from the Cayman Islands delivered a reading. Following the service, a reception was held at The Cellarium Terrace of Westminster Abbey, with the kind permission of the Dean and Chapter of Westminster.
UKOTA, established on November 2, 1994, represents the collective interests of the UK's Overseas Territories. It works with the UK government to ensure that the voices of all territories, regardless of size or resources, are heard and valued.
