A British geologist who visited the White Island volcano just days before the deadly eruption has shared eerie footage of the crater violently spewing rocks and mud.

Geologist James Siddorn captured this chilling footage on New Zealand’s White Island last Thursday [5 DEC], just four days before the deadly eruption.

The 46-year-old, originally from Burton-Upon-Trent, Staffs, but moved to Toronto, Canada in 1996, said it was ‘surreal’ to hear about the eruption knowing that he had stood in the same spot just four days earlier.

James is now sharing this never-before-seen video of the volcano, as it was just days before the devastating explosion, for the very first time.
