In this "how to" guide you'll discover just how easy it is to remove skin blemishes using Adobe Lightroom.
If you already use Lr, then it is highly likely that you already know how to do this, and more than likely that you have used the spot removal tool in many of your own edits, so feel free to skip this video. This video is aimed at those who have never used this package before and are absolute beginners.
In this tutorial I have used skin blemishes as the example. The spot removal tool does so much more than just this, so I urge you to explore the tool and get creative with your own photographs.
STEP-BY-STEP
1. Select the SPOT REMOVAL button ('Q' for the keyboard shortcut).
2. Adjust the size of your brush by using the [ and ] keys to decrease and increase the brush size respectively.
3. Make sure the brush size is a fraction larger than the area you wish to remove and select it. The tool will automatically select the best area within the photo to replace the selection.
As good as this tool is, it doesn't always make the perfect selection, so bear this in mind and if need be, move the proposed selection to an area that you deem more appropriate.
4. Continue the above steps until you are satisfied.
TOP TIP: There will be occasions, just like in this video, where the selection leaves a distinctive mark where you have made a selection. Don't panic as this is normal, simply adjust your brush size accordingly and drag a selection until it looks right. To see the photo without the markers hit return twice. When you select the spot removal tool again, these previous selections will reappear.
