Interview with Jamie Holt about Yurok Tribal Fisheries and how it is an asset to The upper Yurok Reservation. Jamie describes how the Yurok Tribal Fisheries works with the tribe and what they do at fisheries such as lamprey, sturgeon, and salmonoid projects.
Yurok Tribal Fisheries also works above and below the Iron Gate Dam to see how the dams are affecting the salmon and other creatures living in the water such as eels, sturgeon, and microscopic bugs that are also very important in maintaining a healthy river. Fisheries has concluded that the dams need to be brought down so as to lower the current temperatures that are causing many illnesses and algae blooms.
The fisheries asset is very important to us as resource because it helps maintain a healthy Klamath River by combining modern technology with traditional knowledge.
