ചേമ്പ് തട പുളിങ്കറി/Chembu thada curry/Chembu thaal curry/Colocasia Stem dish/Taro Stem Dish

Ingredients:
Naadan Chembu Thada (cleaned and cut to pieces) - 500gm
Kashmiri Chilly Powder - 2 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tbsp
Coriander Powder - 4 tbsp
Fenugreek Powder - 1/2 tbsp
Asfoetida - size of a small gooseberry
Tamarind Juice - 2tbsp
Salt - To Taste
For Seasoning:
Coconut Oil - 3 tbsp
Sambar Onion (Shallots) - 4 to 5 nos
Dry Red Chillies - 1 or 2
Mustard - for seasoning
Curry Leaves - 2 strands
Method:
1) Boil the cleaned stem pieces in a pot with 2 cups of water
2) Add turmeric powder, salt and asfoetida; cover and cook to boil.
3) Add tamarind juice, cover and heat.
4) Meanwhile take a tawa and add chilly powder, coriander powder and heat to remove the raw smell.
5) Add the above to the boiling pot along with fenugreek powder.
6) Fry the sambar onion, red chillies, mustard and curry leaves in coconut oil for seasoning and pour over the boiling mix.
7) Serve with rice, dosa or puttu.
