Bioregional Bast Fibres – Developing LOCAL Agroecological Value Chains for Flax & Hemp Using GLOBAL Open-Source Knowledge Exchange

Members of The Bast Fibre Network will share their thoughts, experiences, and future plans for developing values-led, agroecological, local supply chains for flax and hemp. We will discuss the potential benefits for farming, not just financial but also community and social aspects. We will share learning from farmers in Europe who have extensive growing experience and show how international collaboration can lead to the development of local supply chains. This is a fast-moving exciting subject. Beginning from zero in the UK, we have the potential to develop robust, local, financially viable and ecologically beneficial systems if we start with our values, put nature and people first and collaborate with pioneers.
