Alan and Joan Root's film retraces the voyage of Charles Darwin, whose observations of the Galapagos Islands' unique wildlife famously helped formulate his theories on evolution. The programme looks at the history of the islands from their volcanic beginnings to the present day, at a time when the wildlife of the islands is much reduced and still suffers from the threat of tourism.
