Some 100-thousand demonstrators took to the streets of Belgrade on Monday on the 20th consecutive day of protests against the annulment of the city's election results by President Milosevic's regime.
After assembling in front of the Philosophy faculty and University Rectorate building, the student rally marched through main streets up to the City Police Headquarters building in downtown Belgrade.
At the police station, a delegation from the students left the crowd and entered to submit a formal complaint about the arrest and beating up by police of university student Dejan Bulatovic during the weekend.
Demonstrators say Bulatovic was arrested and beaten because he carried an effigy of Milosevic during the opposition rallies Saturday.
Nikola Barovic, Dejan Bulatovic's lawyer, told APTV on leaving the city police headquarters building that his client is officially being charged for diverting traffic during the rally.
SOUNDBITE:
\"What you all heard this morning, unofficially, is that maybe the public prosecutor will begin proceedings against him on the grounds of propaganda against the president. It's according to an article in the penal code dating back to 1945-46 during the Soviet system which still stands. But the judge today said that he isn't deciding about that but that (my client) is being punished because of organising traffic during rally.\" Student Bulatovic has been sentenced to 25 days in prison for \"disturbance of law and order\".
