At Praça Osório tube station and then riding route 303 westbound between Brigadeiro Franco and Praça da Ucrânia (Ukraine Square), aboard a double-articulated Volvo B12M with 340 hp and equipped with a 6-speed ZF Ecomat transmission. This is probably one of the nicest areas through which the express buses travel in Curitiba.
Curitiba is home to the original BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system, having started operating in 1974. A lot has evolved since then, with more modern buses in service and the tubular-shaped stations (dubbed "tube station" locally) being pivotal and an icon to the system.
Route 303 is on the East-West trunk line, runs between Centenário and Campo Comprido transportation centers and is approximately 18 km (11.2 miles) long. It is a high-frequency service with average headways of 3 minutes during peak hours and up to 10 minutes off-peak (12 minutes on Sundays).
Most buses on this route are double-articulated Volvo B12M with 340 hp and 28 meters (92 ft) long, equipped with a 6-speed ZF Ecomat automatic gearbox and Neobus MegaBRT body.
