The red fox is the largest of the fox genus, and one of the most widely distributed members of the order Carnivora, occurring throughout the entire Northern Hemisphere including most of North America, Europe and Asia plus part of North Africa. Their range increased in parallel with human expansion, when they were introduced into Australia, where they were considered a pest to native mammals and birds.
