Solvang is located in the Santa Ynez Valley of Santa Barbara County about 45 minute drive north of Santa Barbara. The town was founded in 1911 by a group of Danes from the midwest. In the 1940s, they had a concept for the town as a Danish Village and started building using Danish-Style architecture. Today, Solvang is a popular year-round destination for people looking to experience a little bit on Denmark in California.
