In this part, we enter the Rena Ruins underneath Neva Tulira. The Rena Ruins are, collectively, the tenth and final dungeon in the game, and it takes up the entirety of this last chapter. It's not just Cinder that's hollow underneath--every region has a vast, seemingly endless space below the surface. It's as if the planet itself is hollow...
Remember how when JKR721 deactivated the bombs in the ruins, you might have noticed some gates to the right of the terminals? Here's where they lead. Each of the ruins--in Narim, in St. Clarity, in Neva Tulira, and in Cinder--have gates there, and now they're open, leading the way to this endgame maze. Each of them also contains archives of Rena scientists staffed with caring for or working with one of the Witnesses, and at the end of them, that Witness awaits, commanded by Ardo to eliminate Crisbell and her allies. In the case of Neva Tulira, that would be Buki. (Remember the vision in Rainbow Lake in Part 9 of people in lab coats and machinery hanging from the ceiling?)
Buki was built by the Rena to take care of their children. (This is why in Part 11, Buki talks about "protecting the brood" right before she attacks Crisbell.) However, humans invaded the subterranean Rena civilization for a currently unknown reason, killed the researchers, and killed the Rena children, leaving Buki as the only survivor. This left Buki with immense grief, and she subsequently shut down. Millennia later, her body would wind up in the Neva Tulira Museum, where Rhallus would eventually scatter her parts.
Just what the Rena were working on will be answered later.
As for why the humans invaded, the game never actually answers this, but I can take a guess. The Rena are most likely analogues for the native tribes who called Colombia their home prior to the Europeans' arrival, and the humans who slaughtered the Rena are most likely the game's counterpart to the Conquistadores. Following this aspect of Colombian history, this was probably a straightforward takeover.
The Neva Tulira Rena Ruins use a more complicated version of the sliding blocks seen in Crystallis. Just like the ones there restore turns them into blocks you can move, and in their present state, they generate force fields that cancel each other out upon contact. If you select Decay, however, they will temporarily explode, which is necessary to break brittle walls to clear paths forward. Nothing too complicated here, though I did have some trouble identifying which walls were actually brittle. (The sliding blocks in Crystallis were said to be based on an older technology. As you can see, this was a Rena invention that was later used by humans in Crystallis.)
Buki waits at the end. She has a lot more HP and does more damage with her moves, but she is otherwise largely unchanged. Whatever we could use to defeat Buki then, they're applicable here. Don't worry, Buki is not finished off for good, though it does put her into incredible depression. Rsther, Crisbell invigorates her with hope. We also get our first glimpse into why Buki and the others are known as Witnesses. We'll learn more about that in the coming videos.
(Have you noticed the music here shares a leitmotif with the Neva Tulira town music?)

Kari cannot gather souls of Triggots, Buagats, or any bosses. The Salt Doppel in the Salt Mines can be made into a soul, but the enemies clear out after you finish the sidequest "Setting the Basses." This means you can only complete Kari's soul collection if you fail that sidequest and deny Neva Tulira a good future.
