Despite the country’s long history of colonization, its people were able to conserve if not preserve most of its heritage. Felipe de Leon, Jr. talks about the Philippine indigenous creative arts, from everyday objects to ritual objects, from everyday language to epic poetry, from lullabies to a diverse number of music and dance.
This lecture will be rich and helpful resource for teachers of Contemporary Arts from the Regions in Senior High School and Art Appreciation in college as it reveals the importance of intangible cultural heritage to the Philippines and its peoples.
Felipe de Leon, Jr. delivered this lecture at De La Salle University on March 22, 2019 as part of Project Virkurso: 10 Lectures on Philippine Arts and Culture. The project is led by teachers from DLSU's Department of Literature and funded by CHED-NCCA Salikha Creative Grant.
