TARGETED SPECIES: BLUEFISH
Got out for my FIRST surf fishing trip with my dad. The weatherman lied to us about this day. It was rough, rainy, windy and just...bad. We braved the weather to see if we can catch some fish. We actually did, and we got into a solid Bluefish bite for an hour. I only got a few fish on camera because I didn't want to use it in this weather. I didn't have the waterproof casing as well. Lots of knockdowns on bait, using finger mullet cast netted from last september. My dad and I kept 2 Blues each in the 7-10lb range and released and lost a good number of them too. Even with the rough weather and surf, we still managed to catch some fish...Sadly enough, no stripers yet.
EXTRA CONTENT:
I went out with my Friend David Ho to see if we can get into some bluefish. Our initial plan was to hit the Surf, but it was way to stained and weedy from the previous day. So we hit PLAN B and hit the backbay. The back didn't fare out well either as I have the only hit all day. The Bluefish I got here was my biggest this year of 2016: a 15.8lb., 37 1/2 inch GORILLA. The fish fought to the point where It went belly up and as i went to unhook it, it looked like it wasn't gonna make it. So I kept it to give away to a friend of mines. Otherwise, I would have released it. Thanks for watching. The BLUES ARE EVERYWHERE!!!
