President Donald Trump told a gathering of police chiefs in Chicago that "it was a tremendous weekend for our country. We killed ISIS leader al-Baghdadi."
The audience applauded loudly.
Trump said al-Baghdadi "was a sick and depraved man, and now he's dead."
Trump also said al-Baghdadi should have been killed years ago.
"Another president should have gotten him," he said, in a reference to President Barack Obama.
