Amid a surge in COVID cases across the country, states have imposed strict restrictions and curfews to curb the spread of the virus. Many chief ministers requested the Centre to reconsider taking board exams of students for the sake of the children's safety. A key meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held in which Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Cabinet Secretary, School and Higher Education Secretaries and other top officials were present to discuss this issue. The meeting has now concluded with the decision to put a halt to the CBSE Board Examinations seeing the COVID situation in India. CBSE class 12 board exams have been postponed and Class 10 exams stand cancelled.
