If you have installed the latest version of the 7-Zip program on your Windows 11/10 machine, you might have noticed the entry CRC-SHA has bee added automatically to the context-menu, alongside 7-Zip options. If you point the side arrow, it displays, CRC-64, SHA-256, SHA-1, CRC-32, and * entries.
CRC is an abbreviated form of Cyclic Redundancy Check, and is employed in digital networks for checking/identifying any changes made to the data. Its sibling, SHA stands for Secure Hash Algorithm which finds its potent use in determining the integrity of data downloaded from the Internet, ensuring it is not corrupted. Users not interested in knowing the function of these algorithms may find its entry in the context menu unwanted and would want to have them removed completely.
