British Rail launches a new steam locomotive, the Britannia - the first Standard Class 7 locomotive - that will be able to run on all lines in the country. BBC Television Newsreel trains its cameras on the new engine as it arrives in Marylebone Station for its naming ceremony at the hands of Transport Minister Mr Barnes, and looks back at the Britannia's construction at Crewe.
