After diagnosing the many problems that this car has had I will start off by saying that this problem was caused by the Factory Bose Amplifier not working. There are three parts to this system that make it work ( MMI Screen - MMI Control Panel - Bose Amp ) If one of any of these three things is not functioning properly the system will not function. That being said here are somethings you can try yourself. Look in your owners manual and try to reset the MMI System, their are two buttons that must be pressed together to reset the system on the panel, try disconnecting the battery for 5 Mins.
The bose amp is located in the trunk on the left hand side closest to the trunk lid itself. The dealer must replace this item and program it into the car and the MMI system.
As for the screen, we tried ordering the "gear set " from ebay only to find out that the thing that the gears glide onto was also broken ( Owners Fault because he was mad and wanted the screen to pop up ) so we ordered part number # 4E0-857-273-F from the closest Audi dealership and replaced the entire mechanism.
