This is a 1962 Vintage Ludwig "Club Date" style drum set in Gold Sparkle. The Club Date series of drums used the same 3 ply shells as Ludwig's more expensive "Classic" line but used a center lug design as a cost saving measure. These drums sound great, possibly in part due to the lower mass mounted on the shell. Due to their slightly lower cost many beginning drummers in the 60's started out on Club Dates.
