Wide conversion test. Test for converting SD 4:3 video to SD 16:9 video One of 2 tests this one is converted to 16:9 and not upscaled, the other one here [ Ссылка ]
is converted to 16:9 and upscaled.
There is a major difference between the look of the 2 videos as YouTube converts SD video to lower quality, and it makes it look like we did some color grading on the video, there was no color grading or B&C adjustment done on either of the videos this is a test for making it 16:9 wide only. There is some flicker around the frame as we did not fully stretch it to the edge of the frame, as this was to test look only this doesn't matter, as we would fix that in an edit anyway.
By our two tests here, we have decided that for our purposes upscaling SD to 720 HD, though not increasing definition, only increases resolution, looks better than SD that is just converted from 4:3 to 16:9 due to the conversion YouTube does on the video once you upload it. The Upscaled version looks better to us. so any archive or other SD videos we do for upload will be Upscaled to 720 HD.
