Today starts with clouds and areas of fog, especially near the shoreline. Some sun will develop and it will be another warm, humid day. High temperatures will be near 80 inland, again cooler at the shoreline with an onshore wind.
A cold front approaches with the threat of strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
The main timeframe for storms is after 4 p.m., but there could be a few isolated pop-up showers or storms before then. When that line of storms arrives, things may get active pretty quickly. Stay weather aware this afternoon, especially if you'll be out and about for any ball games!
The highest risk for severe weather will be in western Connecticut and New York State. The main threat from these storms in Connecticut will be damaging wind gusts, but isolated tornadoes are possible just to our west, in the level 3 enhanced risk area.
