The battle to contain the forest fire that erupted in Korea's eastern Gangwon-do Province on Saturday continues.
On Monday, a helicopter crew lost his life during the operation.
The chopper was making an emergency landing just before noon when it was caught on a high-tension wire.
The maintanence worker -- a 47-years-old man, surnamed Cho --... died at the hospital.
It was believed the situation was contained by Sunday evening, but the embers were rekindled by strong winds.
Three separate fires, including two in Gangwon-do, have destroyed more than 30 homes and burned 1-hundred-40 hectares of forest, the equivalent of 200 football fields.
Some 63-hundred soldiers along with around a dozen military helicopters have been deployed to help fight the fires near Gangneung, Samcheok and other areas.
