Susan Prockop, MD, Boston Children’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, summarizes the challenges in diagnosing patients with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) and the currently available diagnostic modalities used to identify PTLD. Describing the pathological variability in the presentation of PTLD, Dr Prockop details the hallmark symptoms, such as high fever and rapidly progressing adenopathy. Current diagnostic modalities include the detection of Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) viremia, indicated by EBV blood testing, as well as biopsy and PET scanning. This interview took place at the 50th Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Glasgow, Scotland.
