Several top opposition leaders and a few journalists have reported receiving a notification from Apple about “state-sponsored attackers”. Also, in 2021 both Apple and Google sent warnings across the world regarding state-sponsored cyberattacks through Pegasus, a spyware manufactured by Israeli company NSO. The notification says the attackers are likely targeting these individuals because of who they are, and advises them to activate the ‘Lockdown Mode’ feature. On Lockdown Mode the device will enter into a state of high security.
