Weird fiction is a complicated genre to track down. There are writers who are simply weird fiction writers, and you know it when you read them. Here are five books (novellas and short story collections/anthologies) that will help you learn its voice and characteristics.
You might be wondering why these suggestions are novellas and/or short stories. If so, know that weird fiction works within shorter word counts best, and although there have been plenty of great weird fiction novels, the bulk of the genre is in shorter form.
