Please Note: today’s video was shot prior to COVID-19 lockdown and all videos shown in the next few months were filmed prior to the UK advising we isolate. Steph and all those involved with IDRIVEACLASSIC wholeheartedly support the initiative for us to isolate and self-isolate where needed and would urge all viewers to follow the government guidelines issued by governing bodies in their country – wherever that might be! Let’s be sensible and follow the rules now so that we can get as many of us safely through to the other side and get back to doing what we do best: enjoying classic cars and the associated adventures!
In today’s video filmed waaaay before the weird new world of isolating, social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions, we take a trip out in the car which dominated the best selling cars lists of the 1960s, known as the AD016 to those at the drawing board and to those buying it, the iconic and sometimes overlooked, 1100.
Available in not only varying colour schemes, but also sometimes confusingly, various marques. Whether you know it as the Wolseley 1100, the Austin 1100, Morris 1100 or simply as the car once battered with a lonely tree branch by a rather irate Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers…these cars deserve a whole heap more praise than we see currently.
In today’s video where yet again, my heart is stolen by an unassuming car from the 60s, we test out this amazing Wolseley 1100 (ADO16) in the rare colour scheme of the island green and toga white and find out exactly why this car was not only a best-seller in the 1960s but deserves a spot in your garage today.
