The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded Notre Dame biologists Nicole Achee and Neil Lobo an international $23 million research grant for their work combating mosquito-borne diseases. The five-year project will generate the data required to show the effectiveness of a new paradigm in mosquito control —spatial repellency— for the prevention of malaria and dengue fever.
