Brooklyn Park Fire Chief John Cunningham serves as president of the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association. The group of fire chiefs and officers asked Governor Walz to move first responders into the top priority for getting a COVID-19 vaccine. The CDC’s framework puts first responders in the second priority category, but Cunningham says fire departments don’t have a huge bench for staffing and a number of fire departments continue to have COVID-19 outbreaks.
