Eknath Shinde LIVE News: Sources said Eknath Shinde is likely to head to Delhi post his meeting with the rebel MLAs in Guwahati. The decision will be taken during this meeting. Sources added that Shinde could have an important meeting with Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, who is also on his way to the national capital.
A week into the political crisis that rocked the state of Maharashtra, the Supreme Court on Monday stayed the disqualification proceedings against the Eknath Shinde-led rebel MLAs till July 12, and sought responses to pleas by them questioning the legality of notices issued by the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly.
The top court, however, refused to pass any interim order on the plea of the Maharashtra government that there should not be any floor test in the Assembly. According to sources, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray tried to resign twice, including on Monday, but was convinced against it by NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
