Een video-uitstap van net 30 jaar geleden leverde deze inmiddels historische beelden van de Athus –Meuse. De keuze om deze zonnige donderdag in augustus 1990 op verkenning te gaan bleek een schot in de roos, de lokale spoorwegmannen vertelden dat het drukker dan normaal was. Het landelijke station van Pondrôme met zijn toegewijde stationschef, de motorwagens, het menselijke contact, straalt de rust uit van vervlogen tijden en wekt heel wat nostalgie op. De drukte viel vooral op in Saint-Vincent-Bellefontaine waar de konvooien met huilende diesels elkaar opvolgden op de klim richting Bertrix tot laat in de avond. Het was genieten tot laat in de avond onder de sterrenhemel, wat door de duisternis echter geen beelden op leverde …
Un voyage vidéo d'il y a à juste 30 ans a livré ces images entretemps historiques de l'Athus-Meuse. Le choix d'explorer ce jeudi ensoleillé en août 1990 s'est avéré être coup de chance, les cheminots locaux ont disaient qu'il y avait plus de trafic que d'habitude annoncé. La gare rurale de Pondrôme avec son chef de gare dédié, les autorails, le contact humain, respire la tranquillité d'antan et évoque beaucoup de nostalgie. Le trafic dense est particulièrement perceptible à Saint-Vincent-Bellefontaine, où des convois diesels hurlants se succèdent pour grimper en direction de Bertrix jusque tard dans la soirée. C'était un plaisir sous le ciel étoilé jusque tard le soir, qui, cependant n’a donné aucune image à la tombée de la nuit…
A video trip from just 30 years ago resulted in this now historical images of the Athus-Meuse. The choice to explore this sunny Thursday in August 1990 turned out to be a bull's eye, the local railway workers said it was busier than usual. The rural station of Pondrôme with its dedicated station master, the DMU’s, the human contact, exudes the tranquillity of bygone times and evokes a lot of nostalgia. The dense traffic was especially noticeable in Saint-Vincent-Bellefontaine, where convoys with howling diesels followed each other on the climb to Bertrix until late in the evening. It was enjoyment under the starry sky, which, however, produced no images by fall of darkness...
