A petulant man burgled his own mother's house and carried out a 'spiteful' act of revenge once inside. One-time aspiring musician Akim Nicholson smashed his way into the property in Erdington with a brick after being locked out and finding his belongings in the shed.
The 33-year-old birmingham rapper who goes by the name keemo then video-called his mother, who was out of the country at her sister's wedding, and said 'what have you done' before trashing the home and pouring bleach everywhere. Five days later he called her and threatened to burn the property down.
Nicholson, a father of two, caused more than £6,000 worth of damage as well as left his devastated parent fearful of living in her own house and now looking to move. He had sought deluded retribution having been allowed to stay at the address previously only for his mother to decide she did not want him there while she was away. Birmingham Crown Court heard he has lived 'in and out of prison' since the age of 14 having been handed 15 custodial sentences.
Birmingham Live reported on him in 2021 for smashing up a court dock and sending a prison guard flying head first down a set of steps. Following a trial he was found guilty of burglary, criminal damage and sending an offensive, obscene or menacing message for his latest crimes.
Judge Richard Bond branded him 'mean' and questioned his apparent new-found remorse after appealing the convictions - unsuccessfully - and forcing his mother to give evidence twice. He sentenced him to two years and nine weeks on Tuesday, January 10.
A restraining order was also granted banning him from contact with his mother. In a heartbreaking statement she said: "As much as I love my son for my own sanity and safety I now choose to love Akim from afar."
He turned up to the home with a woman on May 18 last year, to find the key he had did not work. He then called his mother at the airport and warned 'Watch what I'm going to do' before breaking the glass of the kitchen door with a brick.
