Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, Jinder Mahal, Mojo Rawley, Luke Harper and Sami Zayn met for a chance at Randy Orton’s WWE title in April 2017. At the end, Jinder threw Harper into the steel steps, Sami dodged Jinder, he jumped outside on Harper, Rowan caught him, Rawley tackled him and Sami jumped on him. Sami caught Jinder, went for the finish, the Singh Brothers caught him and then Jinder hit him with the Khallas to win the match. Then Randy confronted him. Next week, Jinder and the Singh Brothers attacked Randy, Jinder hit him with the Khallas and took the title. At Payback, Randy faced Bray Wyatt in a House of Horrors match. At the end, they got to the ring and the Singh Brothers attacked Randy. Randy hit Bray with the RKO and Jinder hit him with the title. Then Bray hit Randy with the Sister Abigail to win the match. On Smackdown, Jinder had a photoshoot and Shane took the title from him. Next week, Jinder told Randy he will take the title back to India. A week later, Randy got attacked again and Jinder hit him with the Khallas. They met at Backlash for the title. At the end, Randy hit the Singh Brothers with the Apron DDT, Jinder caught him and hit him with the Khallas to pin him and to become the new champion.
