The Empretec Women in Business Award (E-WBA) is awarded to women who have benefited from the business development services of the Empretec programme – a pioneering UNCTAD programme for the promotion of entrepreneurship that operates in 36 developing countries. In line with the theme of this year’s World Investment Forum, the E-WBA focussed on the crucial role that women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment contribute to the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals agenda. The awards presentation by Mukhisa Kituyi Secretary General UNCTAD & Arancha Gonzalez Director ITC was entertaining and inspirational, and provided an opportunity for the entrepreneurs to share their experience on contribution to sustainable development in different sectors by starting at the local level.
