"MELA" is an annual charity show that promotes understanding and awareness of South Asian culture, in collaboration with the Brandeis Pluralism Alliance. The show includes traditional, fusion and modern dances, contemporary and classical music, spoken word, and other performances by students across campus.
Immeasurable is the influence of passion in our lives. It is often the driving force that motivates us to pursue our dreams. It encourages us to be bold yet stay true to who we are. As individuals, we relish in our unique passions. As a community, the determination, heart, and tenacity that support those passions unite us.
With that, we present to you our theme for Mela 2014:
Junoon: The power of passion.
The sponsored charity for MELA 2014 is Asha for Education. This secular organization’s mission is to catalyze socio-economic change in India through education of underprivileged children. Asha for Education works with over 300 projects spread across the length and breadth of India. The projects deal with educational issues from pre-primary schooling to professional education in locations from urban slums to isolated rural areas.
