The UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has appealed for calm after violence escalated ahead of Monday's presidential and parliamentary elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It comes after Etienne Tshisekedi, the main opposition candidate was escorted home by police and stopped from staging an election rally after at least three people died in violence across DRC's capital city.
Security forces used tear gas and live fire to disperse those attending the campaign rally.
