A large rally in Upstate South Carolina resulted in several arrests Saturday afternoon.
In a press release, the Greenville Police Department says officers monitored a picket downtown on June 25, regarding the U.S. Supreme Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Police say the picket was slated to run from 12-1 p.m. with 100 people present. However, approximately four to five hundred people were present during the rally which "exceeded the scheduled end time."
Per the city's picketing ordinance, the department says officers separated opposing sides, but that they had to "address people in the roadway and parties from one side trying to go over to another" on several occasions.
