Day Six – Stavanger
Gosh, this good weather’s getting embarrassing. Is it really meant to be like this? So glad it is though. We’ve got two outings today. This morning’s is a cruise on the Lysefjord. The boat for our cruise was just a short walk from our ship and once we were settled in it soon whizzed off across the water. So fast!. The Lysefjord is huge and would take 3hrs to travel its length. We were just able to cover a third of it and what we saw was so impressive. Shortly into the journey the boat pulled into a café on the shore of the fjord and picked up Norwegian Waffles and coffee for us all. What a treat! Some of our passengers were standing on the top deck in the open, but we had settled down in the comfy seats inside, although I did make it out onto the lower deck to take some photos and nearly got blown away! Goodness, it was windy.
On our return to Stavanger, we had plenty of time to have a juicy burger and glass of wine on the Terrace before setting off on a coach tour of Stavanger and surrounding area. Our tour included seeing the University and Colleges where they offer the best training in gas & oil engineering. Also, we drove out to Hafrsfjord where Harald Fairhair had a great victory in 872AD to become the first King of Norway. There was a viewing point and the views were amazing and I could see for miles.
Returning to the ship, we had time to put our feet up for a snooze before getting dressed for our evening. This is our last night in Norway. This evening the ship will leave Stavanger and start to head home across the North Sea.
Tomorrow – At Sea Again.
