This is a beautiful older restoration of the rare and desirable 1949 Packard Super Eight Victoria Convertible Coupe (Model 2332). We love the color combinations featuring its Agate Blue metallic paint and the chrome wire wheels. This Packard is one of just 1,285 23rd Series produced. This example is an older restoration that is perfect for local and regional shows and with little effort can be readied for tours.
The last owner was William Ingram from Paradise Valley, AZ who acquired this Packard in California in 2004. Mr. Ingram maintained this Packard well and the sale includes copies of the receipts.
The Agate Blue metallic paint (Paint Code H) is polished to a beautiful shine and luster and is in very nice condition. The chrome has also been all restored and replated beautifully. The tan Haartz cloth canvas power convertible top is nearly as new. The power convertible top works well. The chrome wire wheels are in excellent condition and have wide white walled radials installed (the spare is a very old bias ply tire). The tan convertible top boot cover does not fit but is included in the sale. We used a Bondo body filler meter and found that most of the rocker panels and lower areas are without any fillers, with only a couple of small areas with thicker readings. We wanted to be assured that this was a very solid body before its restoration. Overall, this Packard looks fantastic and would be great for taking for local and regional car shows.
The interior features Burgundy and Tan leather with tan carpeting. The leather is older but still very soft and supple and the seats are very comfortable. The dashboard is in overall very nice condition and is painted Agate Blue. Seat belts have been installed for touring. The gauges and clock all function, but the gauges in the 1949 Packards are somewhat vague in readings. Overall, the interior is in good condition.
The engine compartment is well detailed for local and regional shows. The engine compartment shows well and is missing the two lower side pans on either side of the engine. The engine appears to be well maintained, and the history file of service work reflect it. The chassis has been cleaned and painted and looks nice. This Packard had been sitting for a couple of years and would benefit from a full major service. The venerable 327 CID straight eight (Engine No. H401013) produces 150hp and is paired with the three-speed overdrive manual transmission. We have this Packard priced well. This is a very rare model, and this Packard has had a major investment made in its restoration. With a major service performed by the new owner, this will be a delightful car to be enjoyed. We have this priced as a No. 2-. The Hagerty Value for a No. 2 example is $61,400 and the No. 3 Value is $37,200.
