Aleem Khan joins PTI’s disgruntled Tareen group
PM confident, no fear of Jahangir Tareen, says Usman Dar
Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former senior provincial minister Abdul Aleem Khan has arrived at Tareen's residence where he is meeting members of the Jehangir Tareen group Monday.
The leaders, reportedly, will decide upon a joint strategy on the impending no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
So far, 19 members of the group including MPAs have arrived at the Tareen residence in Lahore.
Talking to journalists outside the residence, Awn Chaudry asked the media to maintain “suspense”. He remained mum when asked if he is on the opposition or the government’s side.
“We welcome Aleem Khan, he is our brother,” Chaudry said.

SAMAA TV's Lahore bureau chief Naeem Hanif has reported that Aleem has met more than 40 Punjab assembly members, including 10 cabinet members, in the past few days. He has also established contact with PTI's members in the National Assembly and federal ministers.
It has, however, been decided the keep the names of these members secret until the no-confidence motions is presented in the assembly.
It is pertinent to mention here that Aleem and Tareen were instrumental in helping PTI form governments in the centre and Punjab. Be it the political manoeuvring in Central and South Punjab or bringing independent candidates into party's fold, the leaders played a big role, said Hanif.
The Jehangir Tareen group reportedly has the support of six members of the National Assembly and several members in Punjab Assembly.
PML-N leadership contacts Aleem
According to Hanif, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) senior leadership in Pakistan and London has also contacted Aleem to discuss the no-confidence motion and form a joint political strategy for the future.
More meetings
Another set of meetings will take place in Islamabad Monday.
PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan Democratic Movement chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman will meet Pakistan Peoples Party president Asif Ali Zardari Monday at the Zardari House in Islamabad.
They will discuss the current political situation and decide upon a date to present the no-confidence motion.
Before this, PPP's Khursheed Shah will meet Fazlur Rehman where numbers for the no-confidence motion will be discussed.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will also hold discussions with party members and aides. He has called a meeting of PTI core committee at prime minister house.
'No fear of Jehangir Tareen '
In an interview with SAMAA TV's Shehzad Ahmed, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar said that the prime minister is confident. He added that when the motion will be put to vote, opposition members will be absent.
"Two dozen opposition members, including Khawaja Asif will be absent from the assembly."
He added that the government has no fear of Jehangir Tareen.
