I'll show you how i test my antifreeze after i replaced my radiator. It had a hole in it, but it doesn't matter why i test it. Every car owner should have his or her antifreeze tested before the winter. Worst case scenario, the antifreeze becomes slushy or even frozen, and your engine overheats, and you don't even realize it, because the temperature sensor is still frozen while the engine already reaches the boiling point.
I have seen that happen to my cousin, and he told me that he had no clue what was going on until it was too late. He needed a new engine after that. All of it could have been avoided by testing the freezing point of the coolant.
In this video i show you how to use a refractometer, an instrument that you buy for life. And it is not that costly at all (check out Ebay or Amazon), just search for refractometer, and you get several versions for less than $20. Make sure you get one used for automotive tasks. They are all the same principle, but have different scales in them. They make them to check on the alcohol content of wine, and liquor, and other things.
They are so very convenient, because you need only one or two drops of the fluid to be tested, and the scale is much easier and more accurately to read than other test equipment.
