Before the start of Boise State’s season, running back Ashton Jeanty bet his offensive live that if he did not hit 2,000 rushing yards, he would shave off his dreadlocks.
And the hair is officially staying.
The Heisman trophy candidate crossed the double-millennium mark in the Broncos 17-13 win over Wyoming, clinching the Mountain West Championship game and preserving their College Football Playoff hopes.
Jeanty became the first running back to reach the mark since 2019, when Chuba Hubbard, J.K. Dobbins, Jonathan Taylor and Malcolm Perry all hit 2,000.
Ashton, who reached 1,437 yards the season before, finished against the Cowboys with 20 carries for 169 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown the first quarter.
Jeanty missed part of the second half after taking a hard tackle to the legs and spending time in the injury tent, but he returned in the fourth quarter for Boise State’s go-ahead touchdown drive.
