(29 May 2019) Protesters in favor of expanding Medicaid caused a brief delay in the Kansas Legislature.
Wednesday's loud demonstrations occurred as Republican lawmakers worked to reverse some actions taken by Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly to reshape the state budget.
Kelly has clashed with top Republicans on many issues, including Medicaid expansion.
Supporters say expansion would provide more health coverage to poor and working-class families, while critics argue that it would prove expensive.
Kelly was unable to win passage of a plan to expand Kansas Medicaid coverage earlier this year.
